I’m Mark McGuire. I hope you enjoy this site where I write about slow travel adventures (often via bike, sail or canoe), entrepreneurship and other stuff that interests me.

A bit about me:

• I’ve co-founded 5 start-ups over the past 20 years. Some of them worked out really well; some did not.  I learned lessons in all of them, mostly from the ones that failed.  For example, I wrote this post-mortem about the experience of shutting down the start-up Nextt in 2014.  

• After spending most of my career in Madison, WI, I moved (with my family) to Minneapolis, MN, in 2016 to open up gener8tor Minnesota, part of the gener8tor start up accelerator family.

• In 2015, I completed a sabbatical with my family, and shared a lot of the experience on this site. We spent five months traveling the Caribbean, mostly on a sailboat. If interested, you can read my posts about that adventure here.

• I’m an entrepreneur and I believe that everyone can use entrepreneurial thinking to help design a meaningful life.
